CapRock Communications Automates
UNE-P Ordering with DSET Solution
Bridgewater, NJ - October 2, 2000 - (Nasdaq: DSET) - DSET
Corporation announced today that CapRock Communications (Nasdaq:
CPRK) is implementing DSET's ezLocal ordering gateway, automating
UNE-P interconnection with Southwestern Bell. Dallas-based
CapRock Communications is DSET's first U.S. competitive telecom
provider to implement fully automated UNE-P order processing.
Short for "Unbundled Network Element-Platform," UNE-P is an
operating mode that enables a CLEC to place orders with an
incumbent carrier for all of the network elements (loop, switch
port, transport, and more) needed to provide phone service
for new customers without deploying their own switches. Carriers
operating in this mode could achieve substantially higher
margins and have lower capital expenses for switches and related
equipment. This process allows CapRock to maximize the value
proposition of resale while at the same time converting customers
to facilities-based service as it continues to build out its
own network.
CapRock has deployed the DSET ezLocal gateway in combination
with MetaSolv Software, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: MSLV) Telecom Business
Solution (TBS) software, an order management and
service fulfillment solution that integrates CapRock's business
processes. These products have enabled CapRock to achieve
highly efficient flow-through processing of all orders.
"Continued implementation of flow-through provisioning benefits
CapRock customers, shareholders and employees alike," said
Ken Monblatt, senior vice president and CIO at CapRock. "DSET's
software provides us the ability to centralize all ILEC order
flows, thus streamlining the order processing and provisioning
intervals beyond what we have already experienced with process
optimization. Status of all orders will ultimately reside
in one system, enabling CapRock to more effectively manage
ILEC Service Level Commitments and order completion. All of
these benefits translate into efficiency and further reduce
order handling time and costs."
"We are extremely pleased to be part of what CapRock has accomplished
in terms of automating a critical business process," said
Phil Cavallo, DSET's senior vice president of worldwide sales
and marketing. "This is another example of how the integration
of DSET gateways and MetaSolv's TBS software is making it
possible for new service providers to successfully pursue
a wide range of strategies in the telecom market, including
UNE-P operation."
