CommTech and DSET Announce
Alliance to Provide ASP-Hosted Service Management Solutions
Cranbury, NJ, and Bridgewater, NJ - February 24, 2000 - CommTech
Corporation and DSET Corporation (NASDAQ: DSET) today announced
the integration of CommTech's FastFlow® products and DSET
Corporation's ezConnect gateway software to provide seamless
end-to-end telecom service management solutions. CommTech
is a top provider of zero-touch, end-to-end flow-through provisioning
and eBusiness infrastructure solutions. DSET Corporation is
a leading supplier of business-to-business e-commerce solutions
for the telecom industry.
The two companies will work together to deliver solutions
for communications service providers (CSPs) via CommTech's
FastFlow® ASP offering. On February 2, 2000, CommTech
became the first OSS company to announce a customer for an
ASP-hosted OSS offering when it revealed that rapidly-growing
Canadian CLEC Combined Telecom Inc. (CTI) had selected FastFlow
ASP.
DSET President and Chief Executive Officer William P. McHale
will join Yankee Group Executive Vice President Rob Rich;
CommTech founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer Frank
M. Fawzi; and CTI's President and Chief Executive Officer
Robert Koven on a global webcast Thursday, February 24, 2000,
at 1:00 PM US Eastern Time. Title of the webcast is "On
the Menu: OSS Served Up ASP-Style;" to register, prospective
attendees should go to www.mshow.com/commtech.
Through FastFlow ASP, CommTech serves as an application service
provider (ASP) which, with partners such as DSET, offers hosted
software applications to providers of voice, DSL, and cable
services. FastFlow ASP helps emerging CLECs/DLECs to quickly
enter markets with far less upfront cost and time than possible
via traditional OSS development. Its innovative pricing models
create a metered OSS structure that directly ties CommTech's
compensation to the success of the CSP in selling new lines
and services using the ASP-delivered OSS.
"We believe the innovative business models and proven
telecom eBusiness infrastructure that make CommTech's ASP
proposition so powerful to emerging CSPs will also contribute
to the continuing expansion of DSET's leadership in this market,"
said Paul Smith, Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning
and Product Management, DSET.
CommTech Vice President/Product Management Mark A. Dennis
said, "We welcome DSET to the FastFlow ASP program, which
combines leading-edge offerings and revolutionary pricing
models to provide an entirely new business proposition for
the market. We are pleased that the value CommTech adds to
the market - empowering end users with direct, rapid, Web-based
access to the best available communications services - continues
to position us to work with other best-of-breed providers
such as DSET."
CommTech and DSET Products Help CSPs Enter Markets and Compete
Effectively
DSET gateway products automate the generation of sales quotes,
the ordering of local loops and high-capacity circuits, as
well as providing support for number portability, 911 emergency
service, calling card, and caller ID services. DSET solutions
also ensure that CLEC customers are served by their preferred
long-distance carriers and that service problems are resolved
quickly and efficiently. In addition to serving carriers that
provide conventional voice and data services, DSET products
support operations for carriers offering digital subscriber
line (DSL) service.
CommTech's FastFlow® Order Fulfillment Suite automates,
via a single interface, the processes key to effective delivery
of communications services, including management of workflow,
ordering, product/service catalog, workforce, inventory, and
trouble ticketing systems. CommTech's FastFlow® Service
Activation Suite empowers CSPs to provision and activate services
across voice, data, and cable telephony platforms. CommTech's
FastFlow® eSuite product enables CSPs to offer an eBusiness
web portal to in-demand applications, building on CommTech's
broad expertise in security and partitioning databases for
end user control.
