Net2000 Expedites Local Ordering Process
via Electronic Bonding with Bell Atlantic
CLEC a National Leader in Establishing Electronic
Bonding for High Capacity T-1s; DSET Gateway Automates Local
Ordering
Herndon, VA (March 16, 2000) Net2000 Communications,
Inc. (Nasdaq: NTKK) is among the first to deploy electronic
bonding with Bell Atlantic for the ordering and provisioning
of high capacity bandwidth to connect customers to its network.
DSET's ezConnect and ezAccess Gateways power the system.
"We are very pleased to be among the first CLECs in
the nation to deploy this advanced platform, which will allow
us to vastly improve the efficiency of provisioning high capacity,
broadband connections to our customers - - each of whom averages
four T-1s of bandwidth. This will vastly improve the accuracy
and volume of orders that we can process each month,"
said Net2000 chief executive officer Charlie Thomas.
"We applaud Net2000 for investing in technologies that
will speed the ordering process for its customers by enhancing
the interface with our systems," said Pat Hanley, president
of Bell Atlantic (NYSE: BEL) Wholesale Services. "We
will continue to work closely with Net2000 and other carriers
to improve the way we do business with each other."
Previously, the manual ordering process required faxing forms
up to 30 pages in length, which was slow and introduced human
error. The DSET gateways enable Bell Atlantic and Net2000
computers to automate the ordering process, thereby significantly
reducing the time to process each order while eliminating
errors and duplicative manual entry. This new process is much
more efficient and will allow Net2000 to switch more customers
to its local service offering each month.
Mark Mendes, Net2000's chief operating officer, stated, "We
believe this is the first OSS to OSS gateway with Bell Atlantic
for high capacity, T-1 connections. Other CLECs have achieved
this for basic analog lines, but our electronic interface
meets the unique needs of our customers who are larger and
more sophisticated than those of other CLECs. Our relationships
with DSET and Bell Atlantic enabled us to install the gateway
in record time, allowing seamless integration between our
backoffice systems and enhancing our scalability."
"We are delighted that Net2000 has been able to turn
up service and be certified throughout all Bell Atlantic regions
using our ezAccess electronic-bonding gateway," said
Phil Cavallo, DSET's senior vice president of worldwide sales
and marketing. "This is the first production implementation
of the DSET ezAccess ASR Gateway with Bell Atlantic. Net2000
has purchased a suite of DSET gateways to automate key business
processes including E911 and Caller ID information. Integrated
with MetaSolv's (Nasdaq: MSLV) Telecom Business Solution TM
(TBS TM) software, our ezAccess Gateway enables Net2000 to
streamline the ordering process for its customers."
