DSET and Vitria Technology
Integrate Solutions for Automating CLEC Business Processes
Bridgewater, NJ - February 9, 2000 - (NASDAQ: DSET) - DSET
Corporation, a leading supplier of business-to-business e-commerce
solutions for the telecom industry, today announced that it
is jointly developing eBusiness solutions with Vitria Technology
for automating processes for the exchange of data between
DSET's electronic-bonding gateways and virtually any operations
support system (OSS) deployed by competitive local exchange
carriers (CLECs). DSET has assumed responsibility for the
development of special interfaces to Vitria BusinessWare®
software that will enable CLECs to conveniently implement
flow-through automation of key business processes.
The new interfaces will facilitate the connection of any
DSET gateway to the BusinessWare software, which in turn is
designed for quick, cost-effective integration into a service
provider's OSS environment to support operations such as ordering,
billing and trouble management. Competitive providers will
thus be able to take full advantage of the capabilities of
DSET's gateways in combination with operations support systems
from a wide range of suppliers without having to develop customized
interfaces.
"We are pleased with the strategic decision that DSET
has made in selecting BusinessWare as their preferred integration
platform for eBusiness applications," said Adam J. Meyer,
director of ISV alliances for Vitria. "The scope of their
solutions, development efforts, and their commitment to our
product is another excellent validation of both Vitria and
DSET, as the eBusiness solution that is transforming the telecommunications
industry."
Demonstrating the potential of the DSET and Vitria alliance,
integration of the DSET ezTroubleAdmin gateway, Vitria BusinessWare,
and the Clarify Inc. CommCenter solution is in progress at
a major CLEC. DSET announced its alliance relationship with
Clarify in September 1999.
The ezTroubleAdmin gateway automates the flow of trouble-ticket
data between a CLEC's customer-care system, such as the Clarify
CommCenter, and the trouble-administration OSS of the incumbent
local exchange carriers (ILECs) or long-distance carriers
with which the CLEC interconnects. Interconnection between
ezTroubleAdmin and the Clarify CommCenter is conveniently
achieved via Vitria BusinessWare. Automating the exchange
of trouble-ticket data in this way expedites the resolution
of problems that affect a CLEC's customers but which may be
caused by a failure in the portions of a trading-partner's
network leased by the CLEC.
"Our agreement with Vitria is key to DSET's strategy
for making it as easy as is technically feasible for a CLEC
to deploy our products," said Paul Smith, DSET's senior
vice president of strategic planning and product management.
"We anticipate that Vitria solutions for eBusiness will
be basic components of the CLEC operations-support environment,
and we plan to aggressively roll out Vitria interfaces for
DSET's entire gateway line. This will enable fast, efficient
implementation of any combination of DSET gateways and a CLEC's
billing, customer-care, and order-management systems."
DSET gateway products automate the generation of sales quotes,
the ordering of local loops and high-capacity circuits, as
well as providing support for number portability, 911 emergency
service, calling card, and caller ID services. DSET products
also ensure that CLEC customers are served by their preferred
long-distance carriers and that service problems are resolved
quickly and efficiently.
